Coturnix Quail

We have quail!
First of all, their call is "cute." I have really enjoyed hearing the various cricket & frog like chirps.
I attempted to share a cucumber with them today. I believed they would be excited, pecking it to shreds. I figured it would be mass chaos for a minute as they each took turns digging in. It turns out they weren't the least bit excited to see a vegetable. They just looked at it, wondering why it was in their space but no one so much as pecked it.
They're five weeks old today. It won't be long until we see eggs! *cheer*

*New* Spice Cake recipe

We invited some friends over for family movie night last night and celebrated Gail's 60th birthday with a homemade, gluten-free, dairy-free spice cake.
I hadn't yet found a tried and true spice cake recipe, so I took my chances to adapt a regular spice cake recipe to meet our requirements.
It turned out well. I heard comments like "Ohhhh, this is the best!" and "This is what I want on my birthday!" so I've posted it in the Gluten Free Living tab.
